Two ebooks for the price of one! Old flames reunite for a second chance at love in this $4.99 ebook duo from beloved, bestselling author Carolyn Brown and rising star Nicole Helm. Includes an excerpt from Nicole Helm's new holiday romance, True-Blue Cowboy Christmas. Hell, Yeah: Cathy O'Dell has been all over the country, but she never felt at home until she moved into the tiny apartment at the back of the Honky Tonk beer joint. Now she figures she's here to stay, loving every minute of the rowdy crowd, down-home juke box music, and constant pool tournaments. She's a beautiful blonde with big blue eyes and enough sass to make a grown man beg for mercy. Then gorgeous, rich, oil man Travis Henry gets it into his fool head that Cathy deserves a better life—with him, of course—and the sparks start to fly so bad they're like to set fire to the beer joint, if they don't go up in flames themselves first! Outlaw Cowboy: Ever since his father's accident, Caleb promised his older sister that he'd fix his terrible reputation. But when Delia Rogers, the town's baddest of the bad girls, needs his help hiding from the cops, Caleb is torn between his squeaky new image and his outlaw roots. Delia's out of options, so asking her reformed ex for help is her only choice. When a helping hand and seriously close quarters turn into more, Delia can't help but fall all over again...but she has a secret that will ruin everything, unless they're both willing to leave their reputations behind for something much more lasting. Praise for Carolyn Brown: "The most difficult thing about reading a Brown book is putting it down." —Fresh Fiction "Carolyn Brown is a master storyteller who never fails to entertain." —Night Owl Reviews Praise for Nicole Helm: "Helm delves into the depths of her characters' emotions, revealing their foibles and making them incredibly human." —Publishers Weekly "A beautifully crafted romance." —USA Today HEA for Rebel Cowboy

A sexy cowgirl gives a rugged Texas loner the ride of his life in USA Today bestselling author Tina Leonard’s seductive new series. Ava Buchanan dreams of a career on the rodeo circuit. Winning a spot on a one-of-a-kind team would be her ticket to the life she’s always wanted. Ava won’t let anyone stand in her way—not even a stubborn cowboy whose slow-molasses smile and red-hot swagger set her senses aflame . . . and whose talents as a trainer could make her a star. Rodeo might be a man’s game, but Ava knows the right woman’s touch can tame the wildest heart. Trace Carter believes his mayor’s plan to raise the town’s profile has disaster written all over it, and he won’t allow the Hell’s Outlaws Training Center to be dragged into the fiasco. Yet watching Ava’s delectable body on horseback proves too much of a temptation, and his fantasies stray to her riding skills outside the arena. Soon Trace is fighting like hell to rein in his unbridled desire for the petite brunette before it becomes a passion hotter than the Texas sun. As she picks up her battered guitar once again, she begins to find her song writing voice. The road is the only home Hudson Scott’s ever known since he stormed out of Marietta, Montana when he was 18 years old after a blow out fight with his father. Can the sweet summer nights at the country fairs and a burning attraction to a tempting songstress teach him how to stop running and how to build a life with a woman he just might be falling in love with?

Rodeo Cowboys in the North American Imagination

In this study, historian Michael Allen examines the image of the rodeo cowboy and the role this image has played in popular culture over in the 20th century. He sees rodeo as a significant American folk festival and the rodeo cowboy as the surviving avatar of a nearly vanished authentic figure - the ""real cowboy"", who embodies the skills and values of traditional western rural culture. Allen's provocative analysis explores the evolution of the myth of the rodeo man and its subsequent institutionalization and acculturation into the media of popular culture. He discovers that America's fascination with the rodeo cowboy reflects feelings far deeper and more complex than a taste for exciting entertainment. This popular culture hero survives in our national imagination as a kind of living, contemporary ancestor, linking a largely urban population with its rural past and recalling the values and spirit of a time and region that most Americans perceive as somehow purer, freer and more noble. Allen's discussion of the archetypal figure of the rodeo cowboy aims to change perceptions of rodeo, but it will also help the reader to understand how the ancient tension between frontier and civilization continues to play a role in national imagination of the USA.

The Cattle Drive from Southwest Tom Lacey and Samuel Embers were outlaws who split from the Younger Brothers Gang. Their handles were the Nevada Kid and Smokey. After the robbery of the Kingston-Downey Express, they took honest jobs while seeking refuge at a prominent cattle ranch. Nevada had been shot through the left thigh, and taking on honest jobs was the only way Smokey could get his pard back on his feet again without getting captured. What they didnt figure into the equation was the ranchers beautiful, innocent young niece, Polly, falling in love with the Nevada Kid. She came from back East to live with her aunt and uncle and to teach at the local schoolhouse. Smokey had a very tough time keeping the beautiful girl from controlling his partners soul and destiny. Polly was the one witness to the robbery of the express who carried enough evidence against the two to get them imprisoned or, worse, hanged.

J.L. Doc Pendland was born in Northern Oklahoma, just a short 36 years after the former Indian Territory gained statehood. After graduating high school (nowhere near the honor roll) his work took him to North Texas, where he still lives with Carolyn, his wife of 49 years. Fifteen years after retirement, he began writing The Wagons of Perro Loco and other short stories. Much of the humor in his stories is readily supplied by friends and relatives, telling tales of their ancestors experiences, which he likes to enhance and incorporate. Doc is currently working on a sequel to Warner Law.
