You are about to enter the deep woods where Sammy the skunk becomes a hero to the animals that live there. Although Sammy does not live in the deep woods, he enters it quite by accident, and his adventures begin immediately. In book four, Sammy helps save the animals when they get stuck in a mudslide. Sammy s father builds a canoe, and the animals find out what it is and what can happen when it tips over. Sammy says a sad goodbye to his forest friends as winter comes. Life lessons are written for each of the three stories in this book. They include a question for children to think about, a scripture verse, a truth about God, and a short message about the love God has for His children.

Squirrel + Skunk = Skrunk Sammy's first day at a new school presents unexpected challenges; not everyone wants to be friends with someone who looks different. Things change when Sammy meets Marcel the Metis and learns that being of mixed ancestry is something to be cherished and celebrated. The Story of Sammy the Skrunk is an endearing tale that celebrates diversity and gives special attention to the Aboriginal peoples of Canada. It is sure to resonate with any child who has experienced the pain of not fitting in and teaches us to take pride in who we are regardless of our differences. Sammy's adventure reveals that the differences we often perceive as our flaws are actually our unique strengths. This is a book to share with all children, to help them recognize that each one of us is unique, valuable and worthy of celebration. Now more than any other time on this planet, storytelling is at the forefront of gifting a new generation with a sense of identity, confidence and compassion. Storytelling allows us to celebrate our culture, validate our life experiences and create unique personal bonds with our children. - Raven For more information on School Visitations, Programs and Workshops please visit: www.ravenspeaks.ca

Introduce a new generation to Thornton Burgess' Peter Cottontail in The Adventures of Peter Cottontail. The Adventures of Peter Cottontail recounts the hijinks of one of the most endearing and beloved creatures in children's literature. Full of mischief (and then remorse), Peter has exploits that are delightfully recognizable to anyone who has children and will surely tickle yet another generation of young readers. Peter Cottontail's efforts to outwit the ever-hungry Reddy Fox lead to a number of whisker-thin escapes, and his fascination with the hibernation of some of his neighbors, such as Johnny Chuck, leads to his decision to hibernate . . . with riotous consequences. This reprint of the classic that was originally published in 1914 presents Burgess' classic style of telling a terrific tale while imparting information about the environment and its creatures.

A Bibliography of McClelland and Stewart Ltd. Imprints, 1909-1985 contains bibliographic records of all books and other materials published by McClelland and Stewart publishing company from 1909, when the first books were published, to 1985, when Jack McClelland ceased to be associated with the company. Carl Spadoni and Judith Donnelly have included all manner of books in this compilation: fiction, poetry, drama, biography, history, and other non-fiction, as well as textbooks at all levels. A good portion of the company's books in the pre-World War II period were imported from the United States and England; the compilers have therefore listed not only Canadian books, but also works by non-Canadian writers in Canadian issues.
