When Mitchell Symons wrote his extraordinary bestsellers This Book, That Book and The Other Book - all neatly combined in one sensational volume, The Ultimate Loo Book - he was judged by many to be the King of Trivia. Now, inThe Bumper Book for the Loo, this supremo of weird and wonderful, astonishing and inexplicable facts, figures, stats and stories returns with a super selection of trivialistic treats - each one more remarkable and, yes, even more trivial than anything he's compiled before. For example, did you know that... ·The first alarm clock could only ring at 4 a.m... ·There was once an internet rumour that Belgium doesn't exist... ·In 1830, King Louis XIX ruled France for just 15 minutes... ·All mammals have jaws but only humans have chins... ·Peru has more pyramids than Egypt... Packed to the rafters with all manner of useful and useless information, lists of the biggest, the smallest, the best and the worst, The Bumper Book for the Loo is a hilarious compendium of endless delights - and a hugely entertaining, unputdownable feat of nonsense!

This book may be too gross to win an award, but it cleverly reveals the science behind over a hundred questions asked by children, answering them in an enormously kid-appealing, informative and funny way. It boldly answers the questions kids love to ask, such as why some farts smell and others just make a loud noise!

Disgust has a strong claim to be a distinctively human emotion. But what is it to be disgusting? What unifies the class of disgusting things? Colin McGinn sets out to analyze the content of disgust, arguing that life and death are implicit in its meaning. Disgust is a kind of philosophical emotion, reflecting the human attitude to the biological world. Yet it is an emotion we strive to repress. It may have initially arisen as a method of curbing voracious human desire, which itself results from our powerful imagination. Because we feel disgust towards ourselves as a species, we are placed in a fraught emotional predicament: we admire ourselves for our achievements, but we also experience revulsion at our necessary organic nature. We are subject to an affective split. Death involves the disgusting, in the shape of the rotting corpse, and our complex attitudes towards death feed into our feelings of disgust. We are beings with a "disgust consciousness", unlike animals and gods-and we cannot shake our self-ambivalence. Existentialism and psychoanalysis sought a general theory of human emotion; this book seeks to replace them with a theory in which our primary mode of feeling centers around disgust. The Meaning of Disgust is an original study of a fascinating but neglected subject, which attempts to tell the disturbing truth about the human condition.

This is a book that I put together over the years with short stories I've written, many of my poems and a few extras I wrote for parents to read with their children(ages 3&up) and when the children learn to read they can read it to their parents. It is dedicated to my cousins daughter Sterling Miller. I hope she will enjoy the book and that she can share it with her friends.
